Background

Laing Communications staff have 20 years of experience working with public and nonprofit organizations at the local, state and national levels. We have written strategic documents for members of Congress, state legislators, federal agencies, national and local nonprofits, and many municipalities.

Laing Communications’ Principal, Colleen Laing, has worked extensively on human services and criminal justice policy issues and is well versed in many public policy areas. Laing has had her own consulting practice for six years and has raised more than $2 million in federal grant funds for employers and clients.

Laing has a Masters in Public Administration from the University of Southern California’s Public Affairs Center in Washington, D.C., and a Bachelor of Science degree in political science from Santa Clara University.

“We needed someone who could get up to speed fast. Colleen understood our complex project right away and was able to guide our writing process, extracting crucial information with targeted questions to our team members and meeting our tight deadline for a final document. The proposal she developed resulted in a multi-year commitment of $100,000 per year.”
